How to Store Seasonal Decor Without Ruining It

Seasonal decor lasts longer when it is stored with the same care used to display it. Good storage protects materials and makes the next season easier to set up.

Sort before storing

Group pieces by season, room, or tradition. Remove damaged packaging and label what should be used first next year.

Protect fragile pieces

Wrap ceramic, glass, and delicate items with paper, cloth, or padding. Keep heavier pieces at the bottom.

Store textiles dry

Wash or air out textiles before storing. Moisture can cause odor or damage over time.

Keep candles cool

Store candles away from heat and direct sun so the wax and scent stay stable.

Storage checklist

  • Group by season.
  • Label clearly.
  • Wrap fragile items.
  • Store textiles dry.
  • Keep heavy items low.
